When and how to use 911

What is 9-1-1?
9-1-1 is a 3 digit emergency number that is easy to remember. It provides immediate and direct access to police, fire and medical services.

When to use 9-1-1?
Call 9-1-1 to report any situation that requires the immediate response of a police car, fire truck or an ambulance.

Do not call 9-1-1 for:
ˇ Road/travel or severe weather information, repair for your household appliances, your car, etc.
ˇ Complaints of excessice noise, littering, pets up a tree, legal advice, the time, school closings, etc.

What the 9-1-1 call taker will need to know:
ˇ The phone number of your location.
ˇ The address of your location.
ˇ The nature of the problem.
